A typical mystery story is comprised of two or more stories, fitted one into another, like Russian dolls. 

One of these stories – the Main Story – is actually told in reverse.

Mystery genre is extremely suitable for no-budget and micro-budget filmmaking, because a mystery story can be fascinating even if it doesn’t include any expensive stunts, props, sets, locations or special effects.

Mystery stories are unpredictable, and can allow a writer to deliver spectacular, shocking plot twists.
